10 months ago Experiência negativa: I am writing to share a deeply negative experience with Portugal Homes to warn other potential investors. In January 2021, I invested €500,000 upfront for a renovation project in Lisbon, with a contractually guaranteed completion date of June 2022. I have strong reason to believe the company knew this deadline was unachievable from the start but proceeded with the contract to secure my investment over other projects I was evaluating. When the project was inevitably delayed, the company's response was not only to refuse any discussion of the agreed-upon penalties but to do so in a shockingly unprofessional and taunting manner. Forced into legal action in November 2022, my case has seen little progress within the legal system for over 31 months. My advice is to be extremely wary of this company. My experience demonstrates a concerning lack of business ethics and a readiness to breach contracts for their own gain. I learned a difficult and expensive lesson, and I hope you can benefit from it.

10 months ago Experiência fantástica: High level summary: the service of Portugal Homes (Hugo D) was excellent, exceeding all expectations, in every area. More details: we purchased an apartment in Lisbon based on video visit, and live out of country. Hugo worked closely with us to design the arrangement and selection of furniture, and handled all delivery, set-up (including details like attached night stands and mounted TV), adjustments and finding solutions for things we did not know about the residence in advance of purchase. He handled a full package of needs for the home from furnishings to kitchenware, linens and towels and small appliances. Hugo was outstanding. He provided in depth guidance and expert recommendations while being timely, patient and always kind and polite. He worked with the on-site manager to gain access to the apartment while we were traveling. They worked together to have contractors do some work, including electrical work. Of course we had a shorter timeline than optimal, and Hugo worked hard to made the apartment ready for our first few nights. He is handling minor finishing details also. We recommend him and the services with no reservation! We feel there is great value for the price. It was one of best service experiences we've had in Portugal, or anywhere!

1 year ago Experiência fantástica: We wanted to share our great experience with Ryan from Portugal Homes. This has been a journey as life in Portugal doesn’t move at a fast pace like here in the US! We first saw a home in Lisbon that we thought suited our needs….Ryan had did a video and even walked down to the main square, a 2 minute walk, we were hooked! We paid a deposit and had 30 days to come view it! Once we saw it in person we realized it was simply too small and withdrew. Ryan was excellent and agreed to show us a ton more homes. Nothing was any trouble. He took us to many different neighborhoods and was honest about each one…the pros the cons…the total refurbished buildings to a refurbished apartment …yes these details are important as we found out! We did after 3 days of viewings with Ryans ever cheerful demeanor find our place. Ryan coordinated the offer with our lawyer and we paid our deposit….30 days later we paid 50%. 5 months later we closed! Ryan has been responsive to every call, message and request for information. A true professional who knows his job without question and certainly an asset to Portugal Homes. However, more than that he is a truly nice guy and we will work with him again in the future. 1 year ago Experiência negativa: Wonderful sales, they do everything until you have paid. They line you up with a rental agreement, long term lease. Only to find out its one of their associates who doesn’t pay but rents out the property for their own gain. Many companies, many linked associates. They legitimately conduct upfront business with a law firm then its a scam.

Also they (or Google) just tried to delete my review. Be care of their score as they may have a way to delete all the reviews that they don't like.

The staff always have been very responsive, professional, and courteous. I always receive detailed and complete explanations, regarding the complexities of renting in the Lisbon market, as well as recommendations that may be most beneficial for me. These difficulties typically necessitates a physical visit to their offices in order to get things done. This is not the case with Portugal Homes who, through their efficient Tax Representative Service within the "After Sales Package", allowed us to obtain the required tax number needed for a future property purchase as well as facilitating the opening of bank accounts. Based on this seamless experience, we have no issue recommending their services and with their assistance, look forward to acquiring our 1st property in Portugal where we will utilize their Property Management Services. 2 years ago Experiência negativa: Complete scam of a company. Be warned. If you are buying an apt through them and using their "after-care" program? You better come to Portugal and see your property. 10s of 1000 of dollars stolen. A complete scam. They are protected through various shell companies and referred me to a contractor that doesn't exist and stole all of the renovation money. BE WARNED. My agent was in on the scam and knew form day one what they were doing. Still advertising the Golden Visa which no longer exists. Menace. Thank god I have gotten free of their lies.

4 years ago Experiência negativa: I was going through the golden visa process with Portugal homes to acquire real estate. My experience with Portugal homes was mediocre at best and then it turned ugly in the end. George Hobson was the realtor who was easy and accommodating to our schedules. When we agreed to invest and we had the money ready to transfer, the fine details with legal contract was the final step with the lawyers at Edge international lawyers. With my real estate and legal experience I was able to point out many legal loopholes where the contractor could easily swindle investors of their investments, or at least leave them “out to dry”. We thought the lawyers and Portugal homes would be protective of the well-being of their clients and investors, but I was wrong. The lawyers agreed with the loopholes but continue to negate them with excuses like “ these legal protections are not usually done here in Portugal“. Although Francisco and Maria at the legal office remained professional, George resorted to peer pressure and shameless tactics to pressure closure of the deal, instead of remaining objective to find a protective compromise. How could we trust that Portugal homes has the investors well-being first and foremost when your associates are pressuring investors to sign contracts that clearly have loop holes for contractors to take all the investors money? All parties did acknowledged that I have good points where the contractor can screw investors, but did nothing to change or reassure us that other than “this is normal In Portugal so you’re simply going have to take the risk because everybody else has signed”. I even offered to 2 other solutions to (not guarantees) but simply give increased investor comfort (not even written legal language), and George / contractor still refused to compromise. It was shocking. At this late stage is when George resorted to social peer pressure tactics like “everyone is comfortable with this legal contract except for you, do you want to be the only person left out?”. I asked him to remain professional, yet he continued. Should I assume that this company condones this behavior and then extrapolate that is what your company stands for? Maybe you need to train associates in how to deal with sophisticated clients who are familiar with real estate legal issues and how to remain professional? I emailed David the partner in the company, but no response. I know as the owner of many companies, I would want to know if my employees are not upholding the reputation of our company, so that’s why I’m reaching out to an owner of this company to give a frank honest review. Please reassure your investors!

He really cares about his clients and is always willing to go the extra mile.
